Loft Conversion, Leeds

Alwoodley, Leeds.

As Architects for this loft conversion , Leeds , we converted the existing roof space of this semi detached house under Planning Permitted Development Rights.

The rear flat roof dormer was designed to maximise space of the loft conversion.

The loft conversion was accessed off a new stair which was carefully designed to go over the existing stair to not lose any floor space at 1st floor.

The loft conversion was formed by changing a hip roof to brick gable.

A large bedroom and a spacious en-suite shower room was formed inside the loft conversion.

A requirement was to get as much built in-storage as possible. Under eaves storage cupboards and a separate landing storage cupboard was designed to utilise all available space.

We matched the existing 1930’s stair balustrade design through to the new stair. We also kept the approach hallway as open as possible and maximised headroom throughout. These small details helped the loft conversion feel more like another room in the house rather than a separate loft space.

On the outside a glass juliet balcony brings light in and permits unobstructed views out.

The dormer box re-uses the existing rosemary clay tiles to help match in to the neighbouring roof tiles.
