Bungalow Design, Knaresborough

Blind Lane, Bungalows

Bungalow designs can become very space hungry on a site. This means developers tend to prefer other housing types to maximise a sites potential.

This scheme for a Social Housing landlord while working for West&Machell, was a rare opportunity to look at the bungalow typology and look how we could modernise its appeal. while still making it affordable to construct.

To maximise the site we looked at a terrace of three bungalows. This saved on build cost and enabled the Client to then look at improving its sustainability credentials.

The bungalows were then designed to achieve Code 4 of Code for Sustainable Homes, Life Time Homes, Building for Life as well as HQI spatial standards.
